Final Post

As the end of the semester draws near, I begin to reflect on everything that I have learned. This class-EDTS has taught me about several types of technology that I can use in the classroom. As much as I did not like powerpoints when we first started this class, I have realized that it is a useful tool. I am glad the semester is over!

Webpage

I completed my webpage and today it is going live. I think that I have a good foundation for a solid webpage. I like the pictures that I used but found it difficult to place them where I want them. I enjoyed doing this project because it was a bit more challenging than the other projects.

Smartboard

Today in class I presented my Smartboard lesson-it was more like a game day for kids. The Smartboard is such a cool piece of technology. I am lucky to work at a school that has a smartboard in one out of two rooms. I think that math classes are the best use of the Smartboard, although I saw some great lesson plans from science, history, and art today. Hopefully I will have a Smartboard in my classroom when I become a teacher.

Podcast

I finished my Podcast on the Dr. Seuss book "Oh The Places You'll Go." I think that it came out pretty well, I felt really goofy reading into my computer-at least I was able to do the reading in the privacy of my own apartment and not in the computer lab. The problem with my Podcast is that I went over the time limit, hopefully it won't hurt me to much with my grade. This was one of the more fun activities that we've done in opinion. Next week our Non-linear powerpoint is due...oh joy :(

Powerpoint

I am happy to say that my first powerpoint presentation went pretty well. I actually don't like doing powerpoints and can not see myself using them very much in the future.

Travel Drive

My travel drive is corrupt...or maybe I am. I tried to save my powerpoint on the travel drive while I was at home and for some reason it did not save. I need to figure what the problem is.

Huckleberry Finn

I am pleased to say that I have completed my Inspiration Project on Huckleberry Finn. This was my second attempt, the first time I tried to do was on Kidspiration...unsuccessfully! I found the Inspiration program was much easier to use and contained more options than Kidspiration. In the future I would more likely use Inspiration over Kidspiration.

Printer

So...I broke the printer while I was trying to print out my Kidspiration project on Huckleberry Finn.

Poetry and Poets

I have decided to do my Linear PowerPoint Assignment on Poetry and American Poets. I have always been interested in poetry and the thought process that goes into writing poems.

PowerPoint

Today in class we learned about how to create PowerPoint presentations. I actually learned so much about the little things that make PowerPoint presentations more interesting and engaging for the viewer. In the next few weeks I will be creating a Linear PowerPoint presentation that I will show in class. During class we worked on practice PowerPoints, I made mine about PEZ.

First Day of Class

This is the first class for EDTS 523 and we have all been instructed to create a BLOG-here is mine. I have quickly realized that there is so much that I have to learn about Educational Technology.
